Connections with Other Clinics

No person should confront the discrimination imbued in America alone. In a similar vein, The Muses Program is not meant to stand by itself. Rather, the program is one that has formed connections with other clinics to ensure that every minoritized youth can access the full spectrum of services that UCSF has to offer.

Embedded within The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department at UCSF, The Muses Clinic exists in collaboration with every other clinic in the department, including Wavefront for Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, The OCD Clinic, The UCSF Center for ASD & NDDs. Beyond The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department at UCSF, the clinic has also built bridges with The Child and Adolescent Gender Center, The Department of Pediatrics at UCSF, and The Gender Psychiatry Program, a program for transgender and gender-diverse youth that is headed by Dr. Jack Turban.

Throughout its formation and as time continues, the clinic will work with youths to ensure that they receive the best care possible and can work with experts across the various psychiatric diagnoses that can co-occur in minoritized youths. What will be different about The Muses Program is also the recognition that many of these conditions can either be instigated by discrimination or worsened by continued instances of bias. Our work will center around not only their psychiatric diagnoses, but also how to heal from and navigate the discrimination that worsen said diagnoses.

Our Program continually and deeply appreciates the collaboration with--and support of--so many other clinics at UCSF.
